Victor Khanye municipality has decided to change all Agricultural holding properties to a residential category. (Then, they just sent their account holders huge bills for a "correction of rates", and even on these, they still charge the wrong rates.)
These properties are not intended for residential use; they are used for food production, amongst other uses. The area is not residential, there are no street lamps, tarred roads or municipal sewers.
This municipality cannot maintain the current infrastructure, yet expect residents to pay more for their inadequacy.

Geagte Meneer / Mevrou,

I am writing to formally object to the proposed increase in electricity tariffs currently under consideration by the municipality.

While I acknowledge the financial and operational pressures faced by the municipality in maintaining and upgrading electricity infrastructure, the scale and timing of the proposed tariff increase raise serious concerns. The current economic climate continues to place significant strain on households and businesses alike, with many already struggling to meet essential living expenses. An additional increase in electricity costs will further burden residents and may have unintended consequences, including reduced affordability, increased non-payment, and broader economic hardship within the community.

Furthermore, the proposed increase does not appear to be accompanied by sufficient transparency regarding cost drivers, efficiency measures, or alternative strategies that have been considered to mitigate the need for such a substantial adjustment. It is essential that residents are provided with a clear breakdown of how the proposed tariffs have been determined, as well as evidence that all reasonable steps have been taken to improve operational efficiency and reduce losses before passing additional costs onto consumers.

I also wish to express concern about the potential impact on small and medium-sized enterprises, which are critical to local economic development and job creation. Higher electricity costs may force businesses to scale down operations, reduce staff, or pass increased costs onto consumers, thereby compounding the economic impact.

In light of the above, I respectfully request that the municipality:

* Reconsider the extent of the proposed tariff increase;
* Provide greater transparency and public engagement regarding the justification for the increase;
* Explore alternative cost-saving measures and efficiencies within the electricity supply system;
* Consider phased or more moderate increases to lessen the

Our infrastructure is collapsing causing residents to be denied their basic human right of having their daily water quota despite paying for the service. The municipality wants to increase the tariffs which is unaffordable. The corrective measures is to root out corruption and misappropriation of funds
